New "80s" Music

Just wondering if anyone else has discovered new bands making good "80s sounding" music.

My choices from the past few months are:

VHS Or Beta : NIGHT ON FIRE - A mix of 70s disco and 80s sounds. The singer sounds like Robert Smith from The Cure.

Franz Ferdinand : FRANZ FERDINAND - The guitar work reminds me of early Talking Heads. Very catchy stuff.

Dogs Die In Hot Cars : PLEASE DESCRIBE YOURSELF - Just got this today. It reminds me of several people. Some of it sounds like XTC, Talking Heads (vocal arrangements), Dexy's Midnight Runners.

Scissor Sisters : SCISSOR SISTERS - A mix of 70s disco and 80s. Singer often sounds like Elton John, but not always.

The Killers : HOT FUSS - I LOVE this album. I don't even know how to describe it. Sounds like old new wave but with a thicker/more full sound.

Of course there's always the excellent new albums from Duran Duran and Tears For Fears.

You read my mind with VHS or Beta and Scissor Sisters. We play them both on the radio station for which I work, and they're by far my two favorite bands in rotation.

If you've ever heard Tegan & Sara, they're pretty 80's punk/new wave sounding.

Just got the FM Knives' "Useless and Modern" which I'm ready to declare an instant classic. Kinda reminds me of the Specials but it's not ska. Maybe the Specials crossed with the Buzzcocks giving a robust dancably mod flavor with warm lingering aftertaste. Very catchy or infectious like a really good cold if you can imagine such a thing. Too bad they split up.

Heard the Psychedelic Furs' new or newish live CD which is pretty good. The originals are still sound better to me. I probably need to give them a second or third chance though.

Heard some Interpol that sounded pretty cool. They always get compared to Joy Division and I can see why. They seem not quite as thick and oppressive as Joy Division tended to be. Maybe it's just the digital recording.

The Clorox Girls' CD is also a great singalong poppy punky thing with crazy "free form" guitar solos. Reminds me of the more rockin' Cheap Trick stuff with a definite Redd Kross influence.

Aaaand, just rediscovered Television's "Marquee Moon" which used to sound fairly strange and now sounds pretty pop and good.

    OK enough.

VHS or Beta were fab when they opened for Duran Duran in '05! Very impressive! Anyone heard of Electric City? I mention them because I think they sorta have an 80z sound, and the singer and guitarist call Andy and Roger Taylor of DD daddy! lol I can hear DD influence in their sound. I think alot of the music coming out of England right now are heavily influenced by the 80z sound. Palace Fire, SaxumStellas, AKA...all very good bands imo. Others are Kaiser Chiefs, Killers, The Bravery.
